So you’ve bought a real leather bag, purse, or wallet, or maybe it was a gift – lucky you! Either way, I bet you’re feeling rather special, and so you should. Everyone should own at least one leather item.
Natural leather is a remarkable material. It’s durable, amazing to touch and is a classic that grows old in its own way. Look at your new bag pristine and gleaming, it makes you smile, doesn’t it?
If you’re anything like us though, your carefully tanned leather good will have a lot of wear&tear to cope with in the coming years. It will be jostled and rubbed as you run for the bus or train, squeezed past closing doors and plopped on park benches. Maybe it will be dragged through the wild outdoors or have to endure the heat of your back pocket as you struggle to stay awake in those epic meetings. It will almost certainly be dropped by the sofa or tossed on your coffee table after a long day. Life can be rough on leather.
But that’s a big part of the reason you chose leather, isn’t it? It’s practical, hardwearing and remains in prime condition after years and years. In fact, good leather looks better with age.
We can’t forget though that leather is a natural material so it breathes and responds to heat & cold and dust and dirt, just like your skin. That means, it too has a beauty regime designed to keep it looking fresh and fabulous.
Thankfully though, leather is not at all high maintenance. It only takes a little bit of special care to protect it and keep it looking its stylish best. So whether you’ve gone for a soft, supple version like something from our Bellroy range or a more rugged, urban look like an aunts&uncles special, we will soon upload in our blog a few tips to help you love your leather.Date: 19/05/14
